Dionysos Erikryptos: Of The Labyrinth

next painting in a series of epithets of dionysos; erikryptos which translates to 'completely hidden'

so this is alot of personal symbolism in relation to my understanding of this particular epithet and dionysos' relationship to labyrinths and different ways they may appear whether it be it physical mazes or something more conceptual like visual mazes created through mirrors and identity/concept of identity. the three figures inside the mirrors, the pink and white harlequins, have been running through my art for a very long time at this point and here they are again showing up as part of dionysos' retinue. 

i find frequently that what is most hidden is usually whats staring directly at you.
